Benefits of natural moisturiser
Moisturising your skin using a natural moisturiser is like paying into a pension: you won’t really realise how important it is until it’s too late. It’s an investment worth making though. An extra 30 seconds each morning spent applying natural face moisturiser after a shower will pay dividends in the long run, keeping your dry skin hydrated, healthy and looking younger for longer.
However, all the natural moisturiser in the world won’t make up for a bad diet, too much booze and not enough water. At UNITY we believe in a balanced approach to looking after yourself, all things in moderation, but these are the things you can do to help a natural moisturiser for dry skin really work its magic.
#1 Drink a natural moisturiser: water
The human body is between 55 and 60% water, but we sweat, we pee, sometimes we even cry. Consequently, we need to keep topping those water levels up.
You should be drinking at least 2 litres of water a day and on top of improving athletic performance and kickstarting your metabolism, said water will help flush out toxins from your skin, and keep it hydrated.
#2 But drink less alcohol
Alcohol is a diuretic, which means it will dehydrate you and your skin. Big night on the beer? Expect noticeably dry skin in the following few days. On top of that, as your body synthesises the booze, it releases a histamine that will dilate your blood vessels, making you skin more red and creating dark circles under your eyes.
The best way to combat this is by not drinking at all, but at UNITY we believe in moderation, so temper the affects of the alcohol by following every drink with a glass of water. That should help with your hangovers, too.
#3 Avoid the sun
Lying under a huge ball of fire that’s roughly 27 million degrees means you are quite literally cooking your skin. Not rocket science, is it? And even the finest cuts of meat will dry out if you leave them in the oven too long. The point? You should always wear sunscreen.
At this point we would usually recommend using a UNITY product that contains SPF, but it’s extremely difficult to make one with natural origin ingredients, so we decided that it was best left to others. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be wearing it.
#4 Stop smoking
Still smoking, huh? You don’t need us to tell you that it’s bad for your health, so we’ll just point out that if you suffer from dry skin, lighting up is only going to make it worse. Nicotine in your cigarettes will reduce the blood flow in your skin, which will make it dry and can even change its colour. That’s why if you smoke you might find your skin looks odd the next day.
#5 Use a natural face moisturiser
A natural moisturiser for dry skin, applied every day, will work wonders on your dry patches, wrinkles and general health and feel of your skin. UNITY’s skin defines moisturiser contains natural anti-oxidants, fatty acids and vitamins that will sooth your skin, as well as seaweed. The iodine and minerals derived from this help maintain your skin’s natural balance (along with that water you’re drinking and the pint you decided to skip).
